Online VPNs: what a browser tab can and cannot do

A site that promises a VPN with nothing to install is usually a web proxy with a bigger name. That can be fine for a single page and wrong for the rest.

No card and no account. The key is issued in Telegram in about a minute.

Where the difference shows up

  • •Coverage: a tab versus the whole device.
  • •Apps: an online service cannot carry a game, a messenger or a mail client.
  • •Encryption: the link to the site may be encrypted, but the proxy reads the page before it reaches you.
  • •Persistence: close the tab and the protection ends.
  • •Login: signing in through a proxy hands the operator your credentials.

When a web version is enough

Opening one blocked article on a machine that does not let you install software is a fair use. So is checking whether a page loads from another address. Both are one-off jobs where the cost of a mistake is small. For anything you will repeat, or anything with a password, the tab becomes a weak spot. The operator is almost always unknown, and a free one pays for itself with advertising and data.

An alternative that is still short

  1. 1Ask the bot, @bsr_key_bot, for a key. The first days cost nothing and no card is requested.
  2. 2Pick a client that suits the device from the list in the bot or on the install page.
  3. 3Scan the QR image or paste the vless:// line, then press connect.
  4. 4From that moment every app on the device uses the tunnel, not only the browser.

How to choose between them

Ask what you need to cover, and for how long. One tab, once, on a borrowed computer: a web version may do. A phone, a laptop and a TV: a key. If you cannot install a client at all, for instance on a locked school laptop, no online service will get around the rules the school has set, and trying may break them. Since we sell the key, a bias comes with the territory. BSR wrote this page with an AI assistant, and it rests on how the two technologies work rather than on any ranking.

Every balance on this statement is zero

There is no account here, so there is nothing to attach a log to. You never give us an email, a phone number or a name. The bot knows a Telegram chat, a key and an expiry date, and that is the whole record. We say that plainly instead of pretending to be beyond every jurisdiction.

Notes to the statement

Questions people ask before the first key

Is an online VPN safe?

It is as safe as its operator, who is often anonymous. Do not enter passwords or payment details through one.

Does a web-based VPN work on my phone?

In the browser, yes, for pages. Apps on the phone are not covered.

Does it hide my IP?

From the site you visit through it, the proxy's address replaces yours. Other traffic keeps your normal address.

Why do online VPNs break sites?

A lot of pages pull their scripts and video from third-party hosts, and a proxy frequently fails to rewrite every one of those links.

Is a key harder to set up than a web version?

It takes a client and one paste or scan. After that every app uses it.

Is BSR an online VPN?

No. It is a key for a client installed on your device, issued by the Telegram bot.

Still unsure?

Support and your key live in the same Telegram bot. The setup page shows which client to install.
