Clash Verge in short

Clash Verge is a desktop interface for the Clash family of proxy cores. It is available for Windows, macOS and Linux. The original repository was archived, and active development continues in the fork called Clash Verge Rev, which uses the Mihomo core. That core supports VLESS with Reality, so a BSR key works in it. The difference from clients such as v2rayN lies in the model. Clash works from a profile, a YAML file that lists proxies and the rules that decide which traffic uses which proxy.

If you want one button and no files, Hiddify is simpler. If you like rules of the kind send these domains through the tunnel and leave the rest direct, clash verge is worth the extra ten minutes.

What a profile contains

▸A proxies section with one entry per server.
▸A proxy-groups section that lets you switch between entries or select one automatically.
▸A rules section, evaluated from top to bottom, that ends with a catch all rule.
▸Optional DNS settings, which matter for leak free operation in TUN mode.
▸Everything is plain text, so you can read exactly what the client will do.

Fields for one VLESS Reality entry

▸type is vless, together with server and port taken from the key.
▸uuid is the long identifier that follows vless:// and comes before the @ sign.
▸network is tcp, tls is true and udp is true.
▸flow is xtls-rprx-vision if the key contains that parameter.
▸servername is the value of sni in the key, and client-fingerprint is the value of fp, usually "chrome" in lower case.
▸reality-opts holds public-key and short-id, taken from pbk and sid in the key.

Setting it up

1Download Clash Verge Rev from the releases page of its GitHub repository and install it.
2Get the key from @bsr_key_bot in Telegram. Five days are free, which is enough to decide whether you like this client.
3Create a new local profile and write the proxies entry using the fields above, followed by one proxy group and a final MATCH rule that points to it.
4Select the profile, then enable System Proxy, or TUN Mode for full coverage.
5Open an IP check page to confirm that it works, then add your own rules.

A warning about online converters

There are websites that turn a vless:// link into a Clash profile. Pasting your key into one hands a working key to a stranger, who can then use one of your five device slots. Do the conversion by hand. It is six fields. If you must use a converter, use one that runs locally. If a key has been exposed, ask the bot for support so that it can be reissued.

When Clash Verge is the right choice

✓If none of those apply, v2rayN or Hiddify will serve you better.

Troubleshooting in brief

A profile that does not load nearly always has an indentation error, because YAML is strict about spaces. A proxy that shows a timeout usually has a wrong public-key or short-id, so copy them again from the key. If pages load but DNS leaks in TUN mode, enable the DNS section with the enhanced mode that the documentation recommends. The log panel in the app names the failing field.
